Wild pitch leads to Charlotte Knights’ third straight win over Louisville Bats

Adam Engel and Rymer Liriano scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, leading the Charlotte Knights to a 4-2 win over the Louisville Bats on Saturday.

The play gave the Knights a 2-1 lead.

After Charlotte added two runs in the sixth, the Bats cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Hernan Iribarren hit a solo home run.

Charlotte right-hander Lucas Giolito (1-5) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. Zack Burdi retired the side in order for his fourth save of the season.

The win, Charlotte’s third in a row at Louisville, evened the Knights’ season record at 17-17. The Knights finish the series Sunday at 2:05 p.m.

Bats starter Cody Reed (0-2) took the loss in the International League game after allowing two runs and six hits over four innings.

For the Bats, Iribarren homered and singled, driving home two runs.
