• The NBA has issued a flop warning to Charlotte Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston. It wasn’t immediately clear which play or game drew the warning. If the league determines Hairston is guilty of a flop the rest of the season, he’d be subject to a $5,000 fine.
• The Hawks game marked the end of a particularly crowded start to the Hornets’ schedule. They played 18 games in the season’s first 32 days. They’re off from games until Wednesday, when they host the Chicago Bulls.

• Coach Steve Clifford was asked before the game what he planned to concentrate on in practice Monday and Tuesday. Clifford said improving the post defense would be a priority. As if to illustrate Clifford’s point, his team was outscored in the lane by the Hawks 26-8 in the first half.
• The Hornets again played without power forward Marvin Williams and shooting guard Gary Neal. Both have shoulder injuries that Clifford said are still quite sore.
