Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman expects to be fined for wearing a pair of red, white and blue cleats Sunday for the Salute to Service game.
He doesn’t care.
Norman and Panthers safety Kurt Coleman began their post-game comments after the Panthers’ 37-29 win against Green Bay by giving a shoutout to the soldiers who were honored at Bank of America Stadium.
Norman’s tribute could cost him. He’s likely to get fined because his custom-made Adidas cleats – emblazoned with the words, “proud, brave” – did not feature the Panthers’ color scheme.
“Price we pay for freedom and I’ll take that any day,” Norman said. “Big ups to them and everything they do for our country.”
The NFL fined Norman $11,000 last season for wearing cleats that were predominantly silver in a November loss at Minnesota.
