Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen left the practice field almost as soon as he arrived Thursday afternoon to be with his family.
Olsen’s almost-2-year-old son, T.J., had his third open-heart surgery on Aug. 25 and has been in the hospital recovering. After stretching, the Panthers huddled at midfield and prayed for Olsen and his family.
T.J. was born with a congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. His first procedure came days after his birth, and his second was last summer.
Rivera expects Olsen to be “ready to roll” Friday at practice and play on Sunday.
