Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman was fined $11,000 after last week’s loss to Minnesota, but not for his personal foul penalty for taunting.
According to the league, Norman’s cleats were “predominantly silver” and did not adhere to the league’s dress code. He was fined $11,000.
In the game, Norman was flagged for taunting, and he said after the game he wouldn’t apologize for it because he didn’t believe he was wrong.
Rivera seemingly backed up his third-year cornerback. He said he asked the league for an explanation, didn’t receive one and “struggled with” the decision.
“One thing you don’t want to do is take away the aggressive nature he’s found,” Rivera said. “He struggled for the first couple of years trying to find himself. I think he’s found himself. He’s done a great job, he’s worked very hard
“He’s going to have to learn to control himself a little bit, but at the same time we don’t want to take away what makes Josh, Josh.”
