Star Lotulelei will miss his second consecutive game as the Panthers eye next week’s contest against the New Orleans Saints for the former first-round pick’s return.

The defensive tackle is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Texans, taking one more week to recover from a stress reaction he suffered in August.

In a bit of a surprise, running back Cameron Artis-Payne is also inactive. The rookie running back did not get a carry last week, and his inactivity is likely due to keeping both Joe Webb and Kevin Norwood active this week.

Jonathan Stewart and Fozzy Whittaker are the only active running backs for the Panthers on Sunday, with fullback Mike Tolbert also up.

Safety Dean Marlowe and running back Brandon Wegher are healthy scratches. Tight end Richie Brockel (shoulder) is also inactive.

Offensive tackle Daryl Williams (knee) and linebacker Luke Kuechly (concussion) were already ruled out.
