Inside the Panthers

What time will Carolina Panthers make first-round pick Thursday?

It wasn’t a long wait for fans in 2011 before the Carolina Panthers took Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, right, with the No. 1 overall pick. Thursday, at No. 30, the wait will be longer.

The Carolina Panthers have the 30th pick in Thursday night’s first-round of the NFL draft, but what time will they make that pick?

Teams have 10 minutes on the clock to make their selection, and there are 31 picks in the first round after the New England Patriots were docked their first-round selection as a penalty for DeflateGate. But some won’t use all their time.

The 2015 NFL draft’s first round lasted three hours and nine minutes, for 32 picks. Using that as the guide, with an 8 p.m. start of the draft on ESPN and the NFL Network, the Panthers should pick between 11 and 11:15 p.m.
