The Panthers added yet another pass-catcher to the roster as Carolina begins to take a long look at the weapons around quarterback Cam Newton.

Carolina signed former Independence and Johnson C. Smith wide receiver Avius Capers to the 90-man roster on Wednesday, the team announced. Capers spent part of the 2015 training camp with the team before being released.

Capers was most recently in the Canadian Football League.

Carolina now has 12 receivers and eight tight ends on its roster. The Panthers will only keep five or six receivers and three or four tight ends when they trim the roster to 53 late this summer.

Since the third day of the draft, Carolina has added two receivers (Keyarris Garrett and Miles Shuler) and five tight ends (Beau Sandland, Jake McGee, Andrew Bonnett, Braxton Deaver and Marcus Lucas).

The Panthers now have a full roster at 90 players.
