Fans can gather to cheer on the Carolina Panthers at a pep rally Friday in Romare Bearden Park before the team leaves for the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif.

Panthers players, Sir Purr, the TopCats, the PurrCussion drumline and the Black & Blue Crew all will make appearances.

The rally will take place from noon-1:30 p.m.

Friday’s rally is a rain-or-shine event, unlike the previous Charlotte Center City Partners rally before the NFC Championship Game that was canceled because of weather.

Friday’s event will be the first pep rally to be held in the uptown park, which is at 300 S. Church St.

The Panthers depart for California on Sunday. They play the Denver Broncos Feb. 7 at 6:30 EST at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara.

A Panthers win would be the first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
