Some social media highlights from Thursday’s round 1 of the PGA Championship.
The Nature Boy back promoting Charlotte
TNT asked Ric Flair to introduce the PGA Championship in Charlotte, the town that he says he put on the map. Flair in recent years has gotten away from Charlotte, first aligning himself with the Carolina Panthers arch rival, the Atlanta Falcons, and getting into an angry Twitter fight with Panther Charles Johnson.
Maybe this is Flair ready to make amends with the Queen City. Whatever, he was really good in the intro, and he was in full Ric Flair mode.

Roy Meets Roy
UNC basketball coach Roy Williams bumped into N.C. Governor Roy Cooper during lunch.
One of the biggest stories of the day was Phil Mickleson, who posted an 8-over 79, the highest PGA Championship round he’s ever shot.
It’s not been the best major season for Mickelson, 47. Unless he makes a miraculous comeback in Friday’s Round 2, this will be the first year in 10 that Mickelson hasn’t had a top 10 in one major.
Mickelson didn’t speak to reporters after his round. He went straight to the car. Twitter talked plenty, though.
Charlotte Hornet Michael Kidd-Gilchrist took in the golf Thursday and seemed to have a good time
Jordan Spieth wasn’t happy with his putting Thursday, but he did up a world class lag putt, which was caught by TNT’s cameras
Joost Luiten probably wasn’t too happy with 5-over 76 in Round 1, but he had perhaps the shot of the day, an ace on the Par 3 No. 4 hole.
