10 Charlotteans win the lottery! What could they do with $69,250?

The owner of Carpet Discount Warehouse in Charlotte and nine of his employees played ball and won.

The 10 co-workers won $1 million in N.C. Education Lottery Powerball winnings. Each will get $100,000, or $69,250 after taxes.

Three of the winners said they’ll most likely use their winnings to go on a vacation; other winners plan to “tithe their church, pay bills, save for the future, and share with family.”

But what else could they do right here in Charlotte with $69,250 to spare?

(1) Splurge at a Charlotte Knights game.

– $69,250 can get you 13,850 hot dogs. Or about 9,200 Olde Mecklenburg Brewery Coppers. Or 11,541 bags of Carolina boiled peanuts.

– Or share the experience with 4,072 of your closest friends by buying 4,073 individual game tickets at $17 a piece.

(2) Rent for (almost) three years at the Catalyst.

A one-year lease for a two-bedroom/two-bathroom apartment at Catalyst uptown costs $24,912.

For two years, that’s $48,438 and three years would be $74,736, so you’ll have to come up with that extra $5K some other way.

You won’t have to worry about having one-too-many beers at the Knights game with an apartment right across Romare Bearden Park.

(3) Eat ALL the brownies.

$69,250 will get you 30,240 salted caramel brownies from Amelie’s French Bakery. Sweet deal!

(4) Three years of tuition at a fancy private school for your (future?) kid.

– Three years of high school at Charlotte Latin will run you $63,840, which leaves plenty of money for a Louis Vuitton purse or some Vineyard Vines polos.

(5) Roller coasters all day every day.

– Buy 641 Carowinds Gold Season Passes so you and your whole high school graduating class can go say goodbye to Thunder Road together.

Or, you know, you could just blow it all on more than 30,000 fancy milkshakes from Cookout. At $2.19 a pop, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal to us.
