Winston-Salem is more livable for 35-and-unders than Charlotte?
The Story
Based on key things like cost of high-quality weed and how much a dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings cost, Charlotte is the 30th most livable city for the 35 and younger set. Winston-Salem: 22nd.
The Facts
– Media company Vocativ created its Livability Index based on several factors, including salaries, rents, public transportation, weather, crime, utilities, sports and live music. And weed and Buffalo Wild Wings.
– It liked Charlotte for: cheap housing, Panthers and Hornets, Mint and Bechtler museums, Amelie’s and Soul Gastrolounge. It suggested folks live in NoDa, which btw is getting a new 36-unit condo complex (priced $179K-$325K).
– Winston? Well, it’s apparently really cheap to live there: $245/month for a decent two-bedroom apartment. We weren’t feeling much beyond that.
– Raleigh came in at 31.
– NYC was No. 1.
Quote
“Who’s having a casual night on the town with a few drinks, an ounce of weed, and buffalo wild wings? … If on an average night out in one of these “cities” you even consider buffalo wild wings – news flash you’re in a suburb!” — Commenter on Vocativ.com
C5’s Take
We remember going to Winston-Salem’s Old Salem for a school field trip in fifth grade. We’re not hearing much more buzz than that.
