Memorial Day with a view: 5 Uptown rooftops meant for celebration.
Memorial Day was created to honor those that have passed on while serving our country. As we honor the fallen, many people also host barbecues, pool parties or even extended weekend getaways.
The holiday is also the official signal that we have entered summer. If you aren’t planning to head to a beach over the long weekend, there is still plenty to do within the city.
Nothing says summer like a great rooftop. Anytime you pair great views, vibes, and drinks, it’s a guaranteed great time. We’ve put together this list of amazing rooftops here in Charlotte to bring in your Memorial Day.
(1) City Lights
555 S. McDowell St.
Located at the top of the Le Meridian hotel, this rooftop space is home to the popular sparkle pops, where you can get a refreshing popsicle in your cocktail. Like we said, great views, vibes, and cocktails are always a great time.
(2) Fahrenheit
222 S. Caldwell St.
This is probably the most sought-after photo spot in the city. Why not celebrate the start of summer here? They will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the weekend. Take note: they will be closed on the holiday Monday.
(3) Merchant & Trade
303 S. Church St.
This is quickly becoming one of Charlotte’s premier rooftops. Boasting one of the best views of BB&T Ballpark. You can literally watch a game from the venue. While they won’t be having a special event for Memorial Day, you will be able to catch the Ballpark’s after-game fireworks display from the rooftop. Now that is an experience in itself.
(4) Nuvole 22
220 E. Trade St.
Situated 22 floors up, this rooftop will have you feeling as though you are on top of the city. On Friday, May 24 they will host DJ Little Betty to provide the night’s tunes. The bar will be rolling out two new cocktails this weekend: Mustache Ride (Jeffersons Reserve, cynar, lemon juice, and maple syrup) and Summer Gin (Uncle Val’s Gin, fresh lime juice, pinch cracked pepper, fever tree elder flower tonic, rosemary, and peach).
(5) Rooftop 210
210 E. Trade St.
You can catch some great rooftop views from this venue located at the top of the EpiCenter. This Memorial Day, they will be hosting a Day party on Sunday, May 26 from 4-9 p.m. Tickets to “Skyline Sundays: Memorial Day weekend” can be found here. It’s sure to be a good time.
Honorable mention: Ink N Ivy
222 S. Church St.
While this isn’t an actual rooftop, Ink N Ivy is home to a great elevated patio that sits off the side of the building. Check out views of Charlotte’s skyline, Romare Bearden Park and even BB&T ballpark while you sip on your favorite cocktails and beers. The restaurant and bar will offer $3 mimosas, a $4 Bloody Mary bar, and $4 Modelo during the holiday weekend.
