Cam is out - of the hospital and Sunday’s game
The Story
Cam Newton was released from the hospital Wednesday, less than 24 hours after a car wreck left him with two fractures in his lower back. The Panthers have opted to sit him out Sunday against Tampa Bay and play backup QB Derek Anderson instead.
The Facts
– Newton, who is mostly sore, will rehab at Bank of America stadium with sports docs.
– This is the second game he’ll miss in his four-year pro career.
– Anderson started at the Panthers season opener, also against Tampa. Panthers won.
– Newton was named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week. Because of his performance against the Saints Sunday.
– Police have cited neither driver in the accident, which happened around lunch Tuesday on Church Street near the stadium. Newton was on his way to watch game film.
– The other driver was also released from the hospital today.

I’m not too concerned that Cam is out Derek Anderson is a proven quarterback with a win against the Bucs already under his belt this season

C5’s Take
We’re just glad everyone’s out of the hospital and recovering. If the Panthers win Sunday, it’s icing at this point. And very cool coincidence that Newton gets top offensive player honors.
