Which Charlotte neighborhood has the highest rent?
If you’ve got your heart set on uptown livin’ in Charlotte, you better be ready to pony up.
A one-bedroom apartment in Third Ward will probably run you around $1,445 a month, the highest median rent of any neighborhood in Charlotte according to data released by Zumper, a website used to search for house and apartment rentals.
A look at the map below will confirm your suspicion that uptown and surrounding neighborhoods are the place to be (overcharged?) in Charlotte. It’s expensive to be hip in this city.
But living in the swank old money of Myers Park will also cost you — about $1,350 a month.
– Still interested in that “Uptown Funk” but don’t want to pay Third Ward prices? First Ward has the cheapest uptown median rent at $1,099.

– Want to be close to breweries so you can stumble home instead of taking a Lyft after one-too-many 3C IPAs? South End will run you around $1,310.

– Plaza Midwood more your style? Median rent is $1,050 to be walking distance from The Peculiar Rabbit, The Diamond and that space-age/retro Harris Teeter.
Did you know that Plaza-Midwood had the first Harris Teeter & Family Dollar? Use this to impress chicks and/or hunks: http://t.co/czkNzRw7cw

– A little farther out, Cotswold will cost you around $715. And you’ll be near the fried chicken at Leroy Fox.
– Are you a cheapskate? At $515, Smallwood had the lowest median rent of any neighborhood listed by Zumper.
When I moved to Charlotte five years ago I got an apartment in University City for about $450. Sometimes you have to make the choice between living near the center of town and paying student loans. Sigh.
