Quotes
“You don’t have to dress up and go to a church building for fellowship. It’s the community aspect that makes the space sacred.” – Rev. Danny Trapp, a Presbyterian minister and executive director of MeckMin.
“It’s not pretentious or Bible-thumping stuff. We play a lot of Gospel, which embodies the true feelings inside people. It makes you feel comfortable – it’s a feel-good music that was born from plain folks.” – Jim Garrett, singer-guitarist.
“Some have a distorted way of loving God, but hating their neighbor. Which is why it makes sense to gather in this place and spend time together. Here we accept our neighbors for who they are – doctor, lawyer, preacher, biker.” – Jim Garrett, singer-guitarist
C5’s Take
This is nothing short of awesome. Religion has gotten a bad rap in the past decade and it is so refreshing to see an unconventional approach to one of the oldest rituals in the world. Focusing on community and how we can support each other brings religion back to the forefront for all the right reasons. Knowing that I can grab a beer, spend time with neighbors, and still feel spiritually connected makes “going back to church” more appealing than ever before.
