Ryan Lochte confirms: He’s single. Why Charlotte’s Olympic swimmer could be right for you

If you haven’t heard, about 600 hotshot swimmers will converge in Charlotte next month for the Arena Pro Swim Series.

Their jaunt to the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in uptown is the fifth stop on a tour that started in Minneapolis in November and will end in June in Santa Clara, Calif. For members of the SwimMac Carolina team, it’s another step to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Our own Doug Miller went to see how their practice was going and who did he run into? None other than Ryan Lochte, a competitive swimmer and recovering reality TV star. Doug asked him the question everybody wants to know: Does Lochte have a special somebody to take laps with in the pool?

“Still single, looking for that one,” he told the Observer.

So ladies, what’s the hold up? Jump on it already.

Maybe you need some convincing. Here are reasons why Lochte might make the ideal man for you:

He drives a Bentley

More specifically, a white Bentley Continental GT which, according to the Observer’s entertainment writer Theoden Janes, is worth more than the average home in Charlotte.

He has time on his hands

Sure, he’s training for the Olympics but, according to Lochte himself, he’s as much of a couch potato as any freakishly in-shape 11-time Olympic medalist could be.

“My life is boring during the week,” he once said. “I just eat, sleep and swim.”

That means none of that “I’m working late tonight” stuff.

He’s oh so witty

His circle of friends include people who look intimidatingly good in speedos and bikinis, and thus will elevate your own social profile (or make you feel bad for going to Duck Donuts)

He has a good wingman

Every man knows the secret to scoring face time with the woman of your dreams is investing in a good branding agent (i.e. wingman) endorsing your product (i.e. your awesome self even if you’re not that awesome). Teammate Cullen Jones, one of Lochte’s best friends, wins the gold star of the day for his wingman efforts. Here’s how:

1) He’s loyal but not overly pushy about it

“I’m still looking for him,” Jones told us about Lochte’s lackluster love life.

2) He’s defensive, calling Lochte’s portrayal in the reality show “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” as a dumb jock a sham.

“The show did not depict him in the right light,” Jones said. “He gets it really bad sometimes from people, and it’s disheartening, because he’s just not that person.”

3) And he knows exactly the kind of gal his bud needs:

“An understanding one,” Jones said.

Make no mistake, ladies. You might have to compete with Jones for Lochte’s affections. The guys are like brothers, meaning it’s not uncommon for Cullen to return to his apartment to find Lochte crashing on his couch. They barhop together. They carpool together. They practice together.

I’m sure you have nothing to worry about. What’s a little bromance nowadays, right?

He likes Lil Wayne

Jones and Lochte apparently bonded over their mutual love for rapper Lil Wayne. This is a very positive sign. We all know Lil Wayne is a die-hard romantic. I mean, have you not heard his song “Love Me,” featuring ‘modern-day Romeo’ Drake? How could you not take him home to mom and dad?

Lochte used to look like this…

And now looks like this

He has some kind of style sense

He reportedly turned down a role on ‘The Bachelor’

So he might actually be serious about this love thing.

We say go for it.
