Another development at Providence Road and I-485???
How many major developments can you fit on Providence Road south of Interstate 485?
At least three, apparently.
Crescent Communities is planning a major mixed-use development in that area, which already has 90-acre and a 194-acre developments in the works.
Some folks in south Charlotte were already worried about traffic in the area. Now it looks like it’s just going to get worse.
South Charlotte worries about growth can be summed up as traffic, traffic, schools, traffic: http://t.co/oF6nrs2aiO #CLT

The details:
-Crescent wants to build on 72 acres on the east side of Providence Road.
-The rezoning petition would allow for up to 30,000 square feet of office, retail and restaurant space.
-Plans also include a 150-room hotel and up to 600 residences, including duplex, three- and four-unit designs.
All of that is in addition to:
-Right across Providence Road, Lincoln Harris plans to build a 194-acre mixed-use community on the site of the former Charlotte Golf Links course.
By the numbers:
-2,100: Housing units planned for that stretch of Providence Road, if you include the Crescent development.
-356: Acres of vacant or unused land now under development in that area.
-20: The Crescent plan is scheduled for a rezoning hearing in front of Charlotte City Council on July 20.
BONUS!
-More apartments have been proposed in NoDa. A block of apartments on East 36th Street could be developed into a larger 51-unit complex.
It’s a good time to be a developer in Charlotte, huh?
