Where should I take my Tinder date? Plaza Midwood edition
Welcome to Plaza Midwood — the hipster paradise of Charlotte!
Plaza Midwood is widely popular among the young and single folk here in Charlotte. People are so obsessed with PM that there is a thread in Reddit’s r/Charlotte with the title “Would you ever move out of Plaza Midwood?”
The answer to this question for most people is “no.” And if you’ve been living in Plaza Midwood you know all the date spots in Plaza Midwood. But for someone who is going to Plaza Midwood on a first date and doesn’t live there, choosing the right place can be difficult.
So it’s time to once again fire up the Tinderness Scale.
The ground rules
-The Tinderness Scale rates an establishment based on its suitability for taking someone you met online on a first date. It is NOT a review on the establishment itself. Every establishment reviewed on the Tinderness Scale is frequented and beloved by the author.
-Each establishment is reviewed on a o-5 flame scale. The rating is based on: casualness, price, visibility, atmosphere and originality.
Let’s dive into Plaza Midwood!
I’ve made a huge mistake. I know everybody here. I am not engaging this online stranger in conversation. I’m having too much fun playing pingpong with my buddies.
Now she sees somebody she knows. In fact, it’s a group of people. Yep, they are talking about me ignoring her.
I’m now the guy that picked pingpong over my Tinder Date.

Two words: Rooftop view. You just can’t beat a good rooftop on a good night, especially one that is as expansive as Whiskey’s. This staple of Plaza Midwood shows off the right amount of personality. It’s also a common hangout spot, so visibility is high and originality is low, but it’s definitely one to keep in your wheelhouse. 3/5 flames

Then we watched “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” on a projector in Pint Central while eating our avocado fries.
After that, we tested which beers would pair best with avocado fries.
I’m just going to stop the review right here because if you don’t like avocado fries then we aren’t going to make it to a second date.

You’re doing too much, bro.
Soul is too intimate for a first Tinder date. The No. 1 priority of a first date is for the two of you to feel each other out and make sure you can carry on a casual conversation.
What if you can tell that this person isn’t going to click with you in the first five minutes but you still have a 20-minute wait?
This is third date material. You’re bringing a firehose to a water pistol fight. I’m trying to have fun, not drown.

Hot fire! Twenty-Two is an art gallery that is regularly changing out displays in its showroom. Know nothing about art? Perfect! They have a full bar here so you can make comments on the beer selection instead. Plus you can say you met at an art gallery. 4.5/5 flames

I’m cutting to the chase on this one: I love food and I especially love barbecue.
Add in a good beer and jalapeño poppers and I will be blind to anything else.
On this date, I’m busy putting down this pork like it’s my last meal. I hope you enjoy hush puppies because I’m going to order some more for us.
In fact, everything is good here. I don’t want to go anywhere else.
What’s that? My date left already? I didn’t notice. I’m blinded by the food, and so is this rating.
