Eat yourself into a food coma at Charlotte Motor Speedway

dhinshaw@charlotteobserver.com

Gentlemen … start your blood pressure monitors!

Starting this weekend with the Sprint All-Star Race, thousands of hungry NASCAR fans will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the “10 Days of NASCAR Thunder,” ready to devour high-calorie foods while watching the races.

Speedway officials partnered with Levy Restaurants to make tasty and extremely fattening food items for any racing fan to enjoy one minute, and feel ashamed of 10 minutes later.

So what’s new on the menu this year?

Candied Bacon Lollipops: $5.

//><!--Blending sweet brown sugar and maple syrup with the spice of Sriracha and black pepper, these thick-cut bacon pops will pair well with your six-pack of light beer. And you should definitely be drinking light beer with these lollipops coming in at 225 calories each.//--><!

Crank Shaft Burrito: $25.

Four 12-inch tortillas are wrapped around this humongous 6.5-pound burrito.

The Crank Shaft Burrito is stuffed to the brim with 3 pounds of Carolina pulled pork, 1.5 pounds each of coleslaw and baked beans, and topped with oozing queso, jalapenos, and a special “Speedway City” BBQ sauce.

¡Dios Mío!  Mi corazón already hurts thinking about eating it.

Speedway Picnic Burger: $35.

But if you think that’s not enough to appease your appetite, try the almighty 6-pound Speedway Picnic Burger.

This heap of a burger features eight quarter-pound patties, eight hotdogs, 1.5 pounds of pulled pork, 1 pound of bacon, eight slices of American cheese, tomatoes and lettuce between a 14-inch sesame seed bun.

It clocks in at 6,209 calories, which is basically what you should consume in three or four days.

At least it’ll come wrapped in a tablecloth and with utensils for you and your family and friends to share.  Don’t even attempt to eat it alone.

These three heavy-hitting food items, along with countless other concessions, can be found at the frontstretch concourse of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Be careful when eating these NASCAR meals.  You don’t want to be waving the white flag of defeat before the checkered flag is waved.
