5 Charlotteans doing social media like a boss

Here are 5 personalities we love on social, not necessarily because they have huge followings, but because they have originality:

(1) Who: ShopPinkSocial

Where: Instagram: @shoppinksocial

Why: Do you like Etsy? Of course you do. It’s the mecca for super creative, independent people and companies who make amazing things. With an IPO bigger than most, this hand-crafted dreamland isn’t going anywhere.

Next question: Do you like locally made things? Cue ShopPinkSocial from creators Carrie and Sarah (of the “Sparklefarm.”) They do an excellent job of engaging their followers in a meaningful way. Do yourself a favor and follow them on Instagram and check out their shop. I am seriously eyeing their “I Love You B*tch stationary…

(2) Who:

Where: Twitter: @JameStewartJr

Why: The cool thing about living in a city where innovation is always on the agenda is that you get people like James. James is the creator of Detailed Block, a blog dedicated to “supporting voices of rising communities.”  For startups and budding entrepreneurs, Detailed Block offers tons of resources, news and commentary. Make your #FollowFriday come a few days early and subscribe to what James is doing.

(3) Who: #thesavageway

Where: Instagram: @thesavageway

Why: Torrie Savage and Paula Bartlett are a force to be reckoned with. Their girl power is bar-none and all their social media accounts must be followed. Why? They are NoDa based, do killer social media/branding/PR (have you heard of Clean Graffiti?) and are wildly inspirational. You can find their influence at local events, local businesses, and depending on where you are, on the sidewalk. They make content relevant.

Such a genius/fun campaign for @OrthoCarolina along running paths. Thanks for looking out OC!! Cracked sidewalk… Watch your step! #Orthocarolina #cleanGraffiti #reverseGraffiti #clt #concordNc #itsJustwater #sustainClt #sustainableAdvertising #ecofriendly #nc #cleanMessageDirtySidewalk

(4) Who: Jon West

Where: Twitter: @west

Why: Can we just start with his Twitter handle? Jon must have been the first person to sign up for Twitter to get a handle like @west. (Do you think Kanye West is mad about it? Jon was actually interviewed about his handle on Forbes.com earlier this year about it.)

I digress. Jon West is the co-founder and CEO of AddShoppers, which helps companies monetize through social media. It was in Entrepreneur Magazine’s 30 Startups to Watch in 2013. Besides taking names in the tech world, Jon’s twitter profile is chalk full of industry insights, pop-culture tidbits and his favorite things.

(5) Who: Jen Hill

Where: Instagram: @2hills

Why: Have you noticed the insanely awesome chalk art on the walls at Sugar Creek Brewing? Leroy Fox? Mortimers? Cowbell? Bistro La Bon? Yeah, that is Jen. Jen is a super talented artist that has put her mark all around the city. She is a lover of splatter paint leggings, funky jewelry, Wonder Woman and her beloved cat Texas Peter. She is constantly pushing the envelope with her art and her company, JEN HiLL POP.
