Where to shop for Father’s Day this year (and what to get)
As Father’s Day rolls around, you probably (hopefully) have started to brainstorm ideas for what to give Dad June 18.
Sure, you can be real original and get him another pair of the dress socks he always wears, or a new spatula to go with the other grilling tools you gave him last Father’s Day, or a gift card to Home Depot.
Or you could put a little more time and effort into this year’s gift. I’ve helped you out by putting together a list of where to shop in Charlotte and what to get at each store.
Here are seven stores in Charlotte you should check out:
(1) Onward Reserve
4149 Park Road, #160.
Onward Reserve at Park Road Shopping Center offers something for men of all styles, from the classic Johnnie-O button downs to a wide variety of printed tees. If you don’t see anything that suits Dad from Onward Reserve’s Father’s Day Gift Guide, I recommend something from the Smathers and Branson Carolina Panthers collection. Choose from the belt ($165), flask ($65) or can cooler ($29).
(2) Bruce Julian Clothier
2913 Selwyn Ave.
Bruce Julian himself created his own Bloody Mary mix that customers can enjoy either on its own or by adding vodka. (Julian recommends tomato or cucumber flavor). Choose from the Kick Back Kit ($15) that comes with Bloody Mary mix, rimmer and his Couch Mix, or the Bloody Mary Bartender Kit ($29.95) that comes with a bottle of their Bloody Mary mix, rimmer, picante pepper sauce and ‘Sassy Okra‘ to garnish. You also have the option to bring the bartender kit home in a burlap bag ($34.95).
(3) The Sporting Gent
2848 Selwyn Ave.
The Sporting Gent brings sporting and lifestyle gear to a small shopping center off of Selwyn Avenue. Check out the Made in USA Harness Leather Belt for Dad ($65 with no initials; additional $15 for Sporting Gent to hand-stamp a brass plate with initials in the store while you wait), because Dad can never have too many belts, right?
(4) Tabor
421 Providence Road.
This modern men’s clothing store not only focuses on clothing and shoes, but also carries the perfect gifts for Dad. If you’re looking to really treat him this year, you can’t go wrong with the Postalco Legal Envelope ($345), Billy Kirk Bronco Leather Tray ($35), Harry’s Razor ($15) and RAD DAD Keychain by Various Key Tags ($15).
(5) Swoozie’s
4722 Sharon Road, Suite G.
Swoozie’s has gifts for any occasion, so it was no surprise when I walked into the store and was greeted by a giant Father’s Day display. I recommend a monogrammed 16 oz. Corkcicle for Dad ($27.95 with no monogram; monogram prices range from $10-20). He will love the 24 hours of cold and 12 hours of hot that the Corkcicle will keep his drinks, and the monogram just makes it all the more personal.
(6) Jesse Brown’s Outdoors
4732 Sharon Road, Suite 2M.
It doesn’t matter if your Dad isn’t an outdoorsman, any dad would love a sportsman knife. Jesse Brown’s at Sharon Corners carries knives by local cutler Mark Hazen. All of his spry knives ($199) and sheaths will be a little bit different, as he hand makes each and every one. If your knife ever dulls, he will resharpen and polish it for free. Dads can pass this knife down through generations as an heirloom.
(7) Orvis
6800 Phillips Pl Ct, Suite F.
Interested in getting Dad something a little more classic? The Orvis Signature Polo ($69) is offered in more than 15 colors and has a chest loop that holds sunglasses, which is perfect for Dads that aren’t a fan of croakies or balancing sunglasses on their head.
