Publix continues its takeover of Charlotte, and other development news
3 pieces of local development news:
(1) Publix and world domination.
Publix continues to breathe down the neck of Harris Teeter – and we’re talking physically – with the announcement of two more Charlotte-area stores, both right around the corner from HTs.
In 2016, you’ll see a new Publix in Cotswold at Randolph Road, right across the street from Harris Teeter. And another one in Mooresville on Brawley School Road, a half mile from a Teeter.
Publix currently has 11 stores in the Charlotte area – astounding considering the chain just entered NC in 2014. The South End store opens April 18.

(2) Wine and cheese in Dilworth.
Cured will take the space just vacated by long-time tenant Dilworth Billiards.
Cured will offer specialty wines and cheeses, as well as meat plates. The two owners envision it as a neighborhood hangout. Stay tuned on opening date.

(3) Ballantyne Village parking dispute is over!
A dispute between land owners has kept hundreds of parking spaces off-limits to Ballanytne Village patrons. Since late 2013, fences, planters and eventually metal poles were used to block access to the surface lots and parking deck. It made it very difficult to find parking.
But now, an (undisclosed) agreement was struck and all spaces were immediately made available.
