Happy National Coffee Day! Here are 6 ways to celebrate.

If you’re like me, every day feels like National Coffee Day because you refuse to see daylight without a cup of steamy goodness clutched between your hands. Today is officially National Coffee Day, giving you an extra excuse to track down caffeine.

Here are six ways to celebrate:

Indulge in a fancy taste of fall

Now available at Coco and the Director is a Fall Spritzer made with cold brew, ginger beer, cinnamon brown sugar and freshly squeezed lemon, plus a Coco Sour featuring Icelandic sparkling water cold brew with maple simple syrup, cherry syrup and maraschino cherries. These fall beverages are $6. The fanciest. (Coco and the Director: 100 W. Trade St.)

Consume coffee in the form of beer

If you prefer a taste of coffee in the form of beer, check out today’s beer release at Catawba Brewing in partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts. The new Dunkin’ Punkin Brown Ale is a cold-brew, pumpkin-flavored beer and $1 from each pint at Catawba’s tap rooms will be donated to Second Harvest. (Catawba Brewing: 933 Louise Ave.)

Order a free bag of coffee

Grab a free bag of coffee by subscribing to Atlas Coffee Club. This is a travel-themed coffee of the month club (and a 2016 food and travel gift pick in USA Today) that offers coffee from a different country each month, including Tanzania, Ethiopia and Burundi. Learn more here and don’t forget your discount code: AtlasCoffeeDay17.

Kick back at a local coffee shop

This a good time to review our summer list of “8 Charlotte coffee shops you need to try,” from the hip, craft-coffee vibe at HEX in South End (125 Remount Road) to the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of Brakeman’s Coffee & Supply in Matthews (225 N Trade St., Matthews).
Bonus: Brakeman’s is hosting a party from 6:30-9 p.m. with live music, 50 percent off drip coffee, plus new desserts.

Relish a free cup of coffee

Today through Sunday, Oct. 1, walk into Krispy Kreme and grab a free hot-brewed coffee or small iced premium blend coffee of any size, with no coupon or purchase required. (Krispy Kreme: 119 North Sharon Amity Road and other locations.)
You can also snag a free 12-oz. coffee if you buy a dozen donuts at Your Mom’s Donuts. 11025 Monroe Rd, Suite F, Matthews

Give to someone in need by getting coffee

ROOTS Cafe in South End is hosting Coffee for a Cause today, with 20 percent of all coffee-related sales supporting a family in Puerto Rico who lost power due to Hurricane Maria. (ROOTS Cafe: 2135 Southend Dr., Suite 109.)

A family in Puerto Rico who is close to the ROOTS community was devasted by Hurricane Maria; they’ll be out of power for 4-6 months. We want to support them in purchasing a generator, or another alternative energy solution, so they can get back to as normal a life as possible right now. In honor of #NationalCoffeeDay this Friday at @rootscafecharlotte, we’re launching Coffee for a Cause – 20% of all coffee-related sales that day will go towards supporting this family and their community at this time. Join us.
