Breakfast hot spot Toast to change names and expand

The Story

Toast is no longer. The popular eatery is changing its name to Famous Toastery (huh?) and is expanding into Mooresville and UCity this year, the Charlotte Business Journal reports.

The Facts

– Why the name change? The name “Toast” is just too common, founder and chief executive Robert Maynard explains.

– The restaurant is also eyeing an uptown location, where there’s a definite void of non-lunch spots.

The Quotes

“Charlotte is our home. We need to own it. We need to make sure we are the best at what we do.” — Maynard

C5’s Take

– First, let’s establish that the eggs and stuffed French toast rock. We’re glad there’s going to be more quality breakfast choices in Charlotte.

– Second, let’s establish that Toast is a much cooler name than Famous Toastery.

– Third, will the dancing Toast Man still have a job?
