Snyder’s-Lance unveils new logo and healthy unit. Better not get rid of buffalo pretzels
The Story
Snyder’s-Lance unveiled a new logo and announced the creation of new division named Clearview that will focus on innovative, healthy snacks.
The Facts
– New logo fluff via statement – “The new logo features a modernized font, visually striking icon and colors that reflect the company’s commitment to quality and wholesome ingredients. The icon also symbolizes the journey from seed to table in every Snyder’s-Lance product.”
– Snyder’s-Lance employees about 1,500 in Charlotte. It’s headquarters is out in Ballantyne (very close to the Ballantyne Resort).
– Clearview unit strategy via statement – “This new division is part of an overall transformation of the company, which started with the acquisition of Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps®, and was followed by the divestiture of the Private Brands business, the acquisition of Baptista’s® Bakery and the acquisition of a majority stake in Late July® Organic Snacks.”
– Their CEO, Carl Lee Jr, is paid $1.74 million.
– I’m addicted to Snyder-Lance’s Buffalo Pretzel Bites. They’re unreal. I wish they dust my entire body in this perfectly flavored buffalo taste. If they get rid of these for only healthy options, I will need to see a therapist.

C5’s Take
Completely agree with Carl and Peter’s strategy. C5 is bullish on healthy snacks. People love to take some “baked” pretzel thin and dip it into hummus. Seriously. Snyder’s-Lance is smart and we love to see big companies innovating in mainstream categories. As for the new logo – meh. But, you can’t dip a logo into hummus.
