The Story
An employee at trendy SouthPark eatery Dogwood Southern Table and Bar has contracted the Hepatitis A virus, the Meck health department announced Monday.

The Facts
– Employee didn’t handle food directly, but did deliver food, polish silverware and handle glassware.
– Customers who had dinner at Dogwood Tuesday Feb. 3 or Wednesday Feb. 4 may be compromised.
– Last day to get vaccinated in time: Feb. 17 and 18, respectively.
– However, health officials say the risk of secondary infection is low.
What is Hepatitis A?
– Hep A is highly contagious liver infection. Comes from contaminated food or water, and easily transmitted person to person. Hand washing helps (unless you’re Thom Tillis).
– Symptoms include: Fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, gray-colored stools, dark urine, joint pain, jaundice
– Adults more likely to be affected than children.
– Symptoms can last from 2-6 months. Most people fully recover.
