Which N.C. Ski resorts are now open for business?

The Story

We may be hanging in short sleeves here in Charlotte, but early snow in the mountains means 4 of the 6 N.C. ski resorts have opened some trails.

The Facts

According to SkiCentral.com, here’s what’s open now for skiing and snowboarding:

– Appalachian Ski Mountain: 75% of trails open ( ski cam video here!)

– Ski Beech: 56% of trails open

– Cataloochee Ski Area: 56% of trails open

– Sugar Mountain: 52% of trails open

Yeah, we know it’s not Vail or Snowbird, but we’ve got skiing 2 hours away! Go with a group and rent a house for the weekend. It’s a blast — and it won’t bankrupt you. Don’t be a ski snob.
