Veep Joe Biden comes to town: 4 takeaways
The Story
Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx came to town Thursday to talk up the need for infrastructure repairs.
But the best stuff from the visit had little to do with trains, planes and automobiles:
(1) Extravaganza Depot: The owner of this event hall “thought it was a joke” when he got a call asking if his hall could be used for the Biden visit. After four days of Secret Service and event planning hassle, owner Mark Middlesworth didn’t even get to meet the Veep. But he got a ball cap and poster signed by him.

(2) Good eats. Biden knows a thing or two about Carolina eating.
‘What I’m really not here to do today is to go to Green’s hotdogs or Krispy Kreme …’ Foxx says Biden took 8000 @Amtrak trips DC-Del

(3) Get to Atlanta in an hour! Biden says, why not?!?
@VP Biden says “there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to get on a train here in Charlotte & be in Atlanta in an hour.”

(4) No. 1 complaint about Biden visit: Traffic.
Yeah okay Joe Biden please come to Charlotte in the middle of the week at rush hour PLEASE. #thanksobama
