Why you’re loving your car these days
The Story
Gas is cheap, cheap, cheap — and just in the nick of time. Flying is nothing but a headache the next few days.
The Facts
– Charlotte is posting the cheapest gas prices among all metro areas in N.C. That’s weird, considering how high Meck taxes are comparatively.
– How low? At Costco and BJ’s as of Monday night, the going price was $1.73 for regular unleaded.
The average price for the area is below $2, but you can find it in Charlotte for $1.73. http://t.co/946nBSVdql pic.twitter.com/mMrlqQvhiX

– If that’s not enough to appreciate your car, the blizzard rolling through the Northeast should convince you. With 2-3 feet of snow predicted for NYC, Boston and Maine, flights out of CLT were cancelled en masse.
You know a good thing:
I spy gas for $1.91/gal on Fairview Rd. by SouthPark Mall. Can anybody beat that in #Charlotte area? #CLT pic.twitter.com/dzBCGr3eWy — Mark Davenport WBTV (@TheDavenReport) January 20, 2015
►Not sure if it was a mistake, but gas is $1.89 a gallon at Park & Woodlawn, 1.98 at Woodlawn near I-77. 2:11 on Independence. #Charlotte◄

C5’s Take
We all love sub-$2 gas. Politicians know it, which is why N.C.’s senators – Thom Tillis and Richard Burr – are advocating opening up the N.C. coastline for offshore drilling. Watch this issue flare up. It’s going to get ugly.
Today’s top reason to donate to NCDP – NC’s Tillis, Burr push case for offshore drilling: http://t.co/Voqr89L19d — NC Democratic Party (@NCDemParty) January 26, 2015
Thank you @ThomTillis & @SenatorBurr for your amendment to the #KeystoneXL pipeline bill http://t.co/8PWDxSdzoO
