The Story

Developers aren’t messing around. The Charlotte skyline is going to change. So, we must consider what it’ll look like when we fly into our airport, drive into our city, or drink a cocktail from Fahrenheit. Let’s take a look at the current skyline and 4 future projects that will crack this list.

– Childress Klein will build a 392-unit apartment complex on the top of Mint Museum in uptown Charlotte. 42 stories.

–  Tryon Place. Crescent Communities plans a tower at Tryon and Stonewall, where the old Goodyear was.27 stories. 450-room hotel, retail, grocery store, apartments.

– 300 S. Tryon – The surface lot next to Latta Arcade and across the street from Bearden Park. 25 stories. Babson Capital Management will be anchor tenant. Finished by spring 2017.

– SkyHouse Uptown apartments are rising 24 stories above North Tryon, just past Discovery Place. A second set will start construction soon.

– Honorable mention: the Westin hotel plans an office tower on top of its parking deck at South College and Stonewall streets. 19 stories.
