NC Highway Patrol is getting creative to catch texting drivers
The Story:
Undercover North Carolina Highway Patrol in Greensboro have used a yellow NCDOT truck to catch texting drivers.
The Facts:
– Texting while driving was outlawed by NC lawmakers in 2009.
– Undercover highway patrol officers would spot driving texters from the truck and then radio to patrol cars.
– Texting while driving tickets have a minimum penalty of $100.
– According to AP research: in 2013, NC issued 1,435 texting tickets.

You don’t need a fancy research study to know that this is a huge problem. Sure, this is a great start to solving this problem, but we need a solution the size of the problem. It’s huge. Good start NC Highway Patrol.
