Moms tell the Teeter: Ban guns!

The Story

Advocacy group Moms Demand Action extends its anti-gun campaign to the aisles of our very own Harris Teeter by delivering more than 72,000 petitions demanding the chain ban openly carried guns in its stores.

The Facts

– This group has launched similar — and somewhat successful — campaigns in Target and Starbucks.

– Harris Teeter’s response: Sorry, moms, it ain’t gonna happen. As long as state and federal laws allow open carry, HT will too.

– Moms retort: Retailers ban legal stuff like skateboarding and not wearing shoes. So what’s up with that double standard?

The Quote

– “We shop at @HarrisTeeter for #GroceriesNotGuns. #MomsDemand a #GunSense policy now!” – Twitter

– “Sign my Petition http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/nospecialparkingspotsformothers.” — Gun lover in CharlotteObserver.com comments

c5’s Take

The real questions here: Does this ban include the HT Rancher dude? And yeah, what’s up with no skateboarding down the milk aisle? And seriously — $1.97 for Lucky Charms with my VIC card this week?!?
