GROWLERS AND GAS?!: Pretty soon you’ll be able to live at Harris Teeter. With Kroger’s acquisition of the Matthews-based chain is coming some potential big changes. Already, several Charlotte-area HT’s offer growlers. Now, a new one under construction in Harrisburg is getting a gas station. Teeter corporate won’t say if gas is coming to CLT.

NO CLUCKING: If you go to the N.C. State Fair to see the chickens, you’re out of luck this year. When the fair opens in Raleigh (it’s worth at least one visit in your life; fair runs Oct. 15-25), there will be no live chickens on the premises thanks to an outbreak of the deadly bird flu virus. But you can still participate in poultry-themed trivia contests.
