Today’s headlines: What’s the deal with that Zach Galifianakis Loomis Fargo movie?

Are you excited to see “Masterminds,” that Zach Galifianakis comedy about the Loomis Fargo heist in Charlotte? You may have to wait a while for it to come out … if it ever comes out.

According to this Theoden Janes story, the film — shot in Asheville and Wilmington last summer — was originally supposed to be released in August. But the studio filed for bankruptcy and the film was postponed indefinitely. Some publications have the release date set for Oct. 9 and other have it as Dec. 31, 2016.

HOT TACO STATUES: The Latin American Coalition joined the effort to remove statues from outside of the new Hot Taco restaurant in South End. The statues depict Latino men who appear to be sleeping. There’s also a petition urging the restaurant to remove the statues.

By “displaying statues of ‘lazy Mexicans,’ the restaurant is perpetuating a stereotype that is harmful to all Latinos and represents a complete lack of familiarity with the country of Mexico and Mexicans in Charlotte,” the group said in a statement.

JONAS BROTHERS FAMILY IN … BELMONT?: The father of the Jonas Brothers plans to open a restaurant in Belmont. Nellie’s Southern Kitchen, named for Kevin Sr.’s maternal grandmother, will open at 36 N. Main St. serving lunch and dinner with food like fried chicken, and biscuits and gravy. The Jonas family says it can trace its N.C. roots to the 1760s.
