Need a little good luck on Friday the 13th? Where to go and what to do

If you’re wary of today due to the whole Friday the 13th horrible luck thing, you’re not alone. According to the Stress Management and Phobia Institute in nearby Asheville, between $800 and $900M is lost in business every Friday the 13th because people are afraid to fly or conduct business as they normally would. Crazy, right?

Michael Scott from The Office once said he’s not superstitious, but is a little stitious. If you find yourself falling somewhere on the stitious spectrum as well, here are some tips from fellow Charlotteans on where to go and what to do when you need some good luck coming your way:

Lucky routines

– “I like to get yellow curry chicken salad and the yellow juice from Trader Joe’s and eat it over at the Metropolitan Park with the greenway globe marble.” – Cece Stronach

– “My go-to is listening to movie scores. It depends on the situation, but the right one can get you prepared for whatever you need it to. The “Gladiator” soundtrack is great motivation, while the “Interstellar” soundtrack helps you cross space and time.” – Twitter user @inLikeCoolHand

Lucky spots in the city

– “My lucky spots are the corner table by the window at Earl’s Grocery, because we secured our first investor while working at that table, as well as Birdsong Brewing because … beer!” – Jesse Leadbetter, founder of Freshlist.

– “My boyfriend and I had our first kiss by the ‘Before I Die I Want To…’ wall on the Rail Trail in South End. It makes me so happy to pass it.” – Ashley Chaffin

– “I met my best gal pals in Charlotte at #WeLoveCLT.” — Twitter user @_ariail

Hyong Yi – Assistant City Manager, gave an incredible message at the #weloveclt talk last night. The man is authentic, charismatic, and passionate about Charlotte. Can't wait to see how he helps make Charlotte even better!

– Heist Brewery, where Corri Smith and Amy Herman came up with the idea for #instabeerupclt.  “It happened a week before we ever hosted the first #instabeerupclt, which had about 30 people in attendance,” Smith explains. Today the monthly gatherings have grown significantly, and attract hundreds of eager networkers/beer drinkers.

– “After class (at UNC Charlotte), (my husband) Brandon would walk me across a bridge and up the hill to the parking lot. This was my favorite walkway because the campus looked the most beautiful from there. Three years later, Brandon asked me to marry him on that bridge. And the rest, as they say, is history.” – Kseniya Martin.

Even if you’re not particularly caught up in the Friday the 13th-related hype, knowing about spots in Charlotte that contain good energy is always useful.
