If you remember earlier this summer, Saturday Night Live’s Please Don’t Destroy comedy group took over NoDa to film a Universal Studios movie.

Later this week, the SNL actors will be filming at Brooks’ Sandwich House in NoDa, the restaurant has told CharlotteFive. Brooks’ — and the roads surrounding it — will be closed on Friday, August 26.

Please Don’t Destroy filming

The comedy group Please Don’t Destroy — composed of actors Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy — is currently filming its first movie in North Carolina. The comedy focuses on three friends who live and work in a small town. The trio decide they don’t like the trajectory of their lives and visit a nearby mountain, where gold treasure is rumored to be buried.

The project is one of the recipients of the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant, The Charlotte Observer has reported. The project received a $7 million rebate grant.

In early August, Kimmie Stewart Casting put out a call for background actors. Executive Producer Josh Church told CharlotteFive that filming in Charlotte allowed the crew to have the small town feel. The movie has been filmed in multiple locations including Charlotte, South Mountain and Crowders Mountain.

The restaurant learned in late July that the comedy group would be filming at its location in the lot. “At first I thought it was kind of a joke, but it wasn’t!” Brooks’ Sandwich House manager Lauren Brooks said. The group will be on roller skates during the filming, Brooks told CharlotteFive.

The crew’s unit publicist was unable to immediately confirm Please Don’t Destroy’s film schedule on Tuesday morning. A call to the city’s Department of Transportation to confirm who sought the permits to close streets near Brooks’ was not returned.
