Popular California-based chain BurgerIM introduced its concept of “always more than one” back in 2016, giving customers more than a million ways to customize their burgers. Since then, the company has opened nearly 500 stores across the country — and in just a few weeks, it will bring a third location in the area to South Charlotte’s City Park community.

“We are super excited to finally be opening,” Christian Johnson, general manager of BurgerIM City Park, told CharlotteFive. “We were set to open nearly a year ago, but due to contractor issues, our opening was pushed back to now.”

BurgerIM’s fast-casual concept allows you to order your burger or sandwich any way you want and have it in your hands within 10 minutes.

City Park is a mixed-use development that sits on the site of the old Charlotte Coliseum just off of Tyvola Road. BurgerIM is among the first businesses to open up in phase one of the community, and its neighbors include Chipotle, Starbucks and Noa Nails. The City Park location plans to stand out from the already opened University City and Harrisburg locations with a more local feel, and part of the menu is dedicated to local sourcing from businesses in North and South Carolina.

Among those businesses is Fort Mill’s PuckerButt Pepper Company, which will directly provide special sauces and mixes made from the famous Carolina Reaper pepper for the burgers and chicken wings.

Additionally, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery will provide some of the beers on tap, while other products will be supplied by Raleigh-based Johnson Brothers Mutual Distributing Company, which includes Biltmore Wines.

Johnson is most excited for customers to try the chain’s popular Hawaiian salmon burger, which includes red cabbage slaw, two pineapple rings, BBQ glaze and a house-made ginger vinaigrette.

“This is one of the only places in Charlotte that you can get Hawaiian salmon in under 15 minutes,” Johnson said.

Other menu items include a Greek lamb burger, chicken wings, fries and onion rings, as well as milkshakes.
