Most of the menu items at the new Blue Fork restaurant will be infused with beer, but that’s not a surprise, considering who is opening it: Catawba Brewing.

The restaurant will open Jan. 17 inside of Catawba’s Charlotte tasting room at 933 Louise Ave.

At the Morganton-based brewery’s Charlotte eatery, expect to order dips, flatbreads, sandwiches, wings and salads. Nikki Young, Blue Fork executive chef and operator, told CharlotteFive her favorite dish is the Sweet & Spicy Jerk Chicken Wings. “The spice combination along with the Catawba beer infusion makes them insanely tasty.”

Young said that operating Blue Fork has been a dream of hers since Catawba first opened in 2017. Previously, she was was bringing her food truck by weekly and catering high-end private events monthly.

“The concept of infusing popular American dishes with Catawba year-round favorites like White Zombie and CLT IPA, as well as their out-of-the-box small batch beers, was at the crux of our vision — I can’t wait to see Catawba guests enjoy this match made in beer heaven,” Young said in a statement.

The restaurant’s name is a nod to local and hand-crafted. “Blue” represents North Carolina’s mountain ranges, sky and ocean and “Fork” is a nod to freshness and creativity.

With the brewery approaching its third anniversary, the timing couldn’t be better, said Mary Mayo, creative director and events coordinator for Catawba Brewing. “We felt the time was right to take our customers’ tasting room experience to the next level,” she told CharlotteFive. “We’ve been so fortunate to build a loyal customer base and we want to be sure to continually deliver them something new and fresh that aligns perfectly with one of the reasons that they come see us — our beer.”
