High-end lounge serving food until 1:30 a.m. opens in South End this week
A new high-end lounge with a nightclub feel is getting ready to open its doors in South End. On Wednesday, Nov. 24, Cloud is hosting what it is calling “the biggest pre-Thanksgiving Day Party in Charlotte history” as part of its grand opening at 1510 South Mint St.
“We wanted to bring something new to the Charlotte area,” Ramond Boyd, co-owner of Cloud, told CharlotteFive. “My wife and I do a lot of traveling and have seen a lot of different things. We took a piece of everywhere we’ve been — both in the country and out of the country — and brought it here to Charlotte.”
Cloud will offer indoor and outdoor seating that includes a large indoor bar, eight indoor booths, a second satellite bar on the patio and six patio booths that come with a sofa, two chairs and a fire pit. TVs are featured throughout the space. There is no cover charge and seating is first-come, first-served until 11 p.m., when reservations are required.
In keeping with the high-end theme, Cloud’s menu is not that of a typical bar. The signature dish is a 24-karat gold leaf lemon pepper chicken wing, but guests can also choose from things like lamb chops and vegan sliders. The cocktail menu is equally posh with its featured drink being the Cloud Millionaire — a unique combination of brown liquors from whiskeys to cognacs.
HOURS: Wednesdays- Fridays 8 p.m.- 2 a.m., Saturdays 3 p.m.- 2 a.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.-2 a.m.
A DJ will be playing nightly beginning at 10 p.m., and after football season, the lounge will begin serving brunch on Sundays.
Boyd and his three business partners partners — Kyphi Boyd, James Williams and NFL player Chris Smith —were intentional about their location choice of South End. “I’m originally from Charlotte and wanted to go where everyone else is migrating to,” Boyd said.
PRO TIP: For the Nov. 24 opening, booths will be reservation only.
