‘It’s time for us to focus on other things’: South End restaurant closing after 5 years
A beloved local restaurant in Charlotte will be closing for good soon.
Eight + Sand Kitchen, located in South End, announced its last day in business will be this weekend.
“We have enjoyed tremendous neighborhood support and will miss the smiles and friendly faces of the South End community we’ve grown to love,” the team shared on its website. “It’s time for us to focus on other things and let the neighborhood experience something new that we think will be a great fit to the South End food scene.”
The local restaurant and bakery originally opened in September 2019, run by pizza maker Grant Arons of Inizio and coffee king James Yoder of Not Just Coffee. Located along the light rail, it’s become a popular spot in South End over the years for breakfast, lunch, or a quick bite to eat with sandwiches, salads, pastries and more.
“Really enjoyed your food and atmosphere. You’ll be missed dearly,” one local resident, Jessica Moseman, commented on the restaurant’s Instagram announcement of the closure.
It’s unclear if the owners plan to open another restaurant in a different location around town, but CharlotteFive has reached out for more details on what’s next.
Eight + Sand’s final day will be Sunday, Jan. 14.
