What would Bobby Flay order at his new Charlotte burger restaurant? We asked him.

Food Network chef Bobby Flay’s Bobby’s Burgers has opened in Charlotte.

When you check it out, you’ll find a menu that keeps the focus on gourmet burgers, of course. Options include:

  • Crunchburger, with American cheese, potato chips and Bobby’s Sauce
  • BBQ Smokehouse Burger with bacon, American cheese, a buttermilk onion ring and chipotle barbecue sauce
  • Nacho burger with queso, pickled jalapenos, blue corn tortilla chips and tomato chipotle salsa

Along with the burgers will come his winning “Beat Bobby Flay” Veggie Burger recipe, featuring barbecue mushrooms, chickpeas, quinoa, queso, lettuce tomato and Bobby’s Sauce, plus his fried chicken sandwich with slaw, pickles and aji amarillo mayo.

Bobby’s Burgers keeps the lineup pretty simple. You can pair your choice of handhold with a selection of fries — available with cheese and bacon — plus onion rings and shakes.

Ahead of the restaurant’s grand opening, CharlotteFive’s Dasia Williams sat down with Flay to ask him about his restaurant — including his favorite order. “Well, my favorite is a bacon crunchburger. I love the buttermilk onion rings, the french fries, the sweet potato fries — and the people that know, know the pistachio shake is the best.”

Breakfast selections are available, too.

Among the choices to try:

  • Brunch burger, with bacon, fried egg and American cheese on a brioche bun
  • Bobby’s Breakfast Burrito, with bacon, eggs, American cheese, potato chips, avocado, tomato chipotle salsa and Bobby’s sauce in a whole wheat tortilla
  • Turkey sausage breakfast sandwich with eggs, American cheese, potato chips and Bobby’s sauce on a brioche bun

The restaurant is owned and run by Bobby’s Burgers’ Charlotte-based corporate team. The partnership includes key investors and local restaurateur Frank Scibelli, whom you know from Mama Ricotta’s and Little Mama’s, Calle Sol, Yafo Kitchen and more.

“I’m thrilled that we are opening our flagship Bobby’s Burgers in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Flay said in a news release. “It will be an amazing resource for ongoing R&D and a place to bring serious operators who are considering joining the Bobby’s Burgers experience. Charlotte was handpicked because it is the headquarters for our executive team in charge of franchising.”

The restaurant group has been poised for growth. The Bobby’s Burgers is Flay’s second location in North Carolina. In the fall, Bobby’s Burgers announced a location would be opening by the end of 2024 at Raleigh-Durham International Airport — its second airport location.
