Wooden Robot to reopen South End, NoDa locations following death of co-owner Dan Wade
Two Charlotte breweries will reopen their doors following a temporary closure after the death of the taproom’s co-founder.
Last week, Wooden Robot’s Dan Wade passed away after a deadly fall at the South End location. Both taprooms were closed after the accident.
Since his death, support has been pouring in from the Charlotte community to assist the 36-year-old’s loved ones and the rest of the Wooden Robot team.
A week after his death, the team announced it will be opening Wooden Robot in South End today and The Chamber by Wooden Robot in NoDa on Thursday for those to come in and honor the beloved co-owner whose “warm personality left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.”
“Embraced by your overwhelming love, we are speechless. Today, with the help of the entire Charlotte brewing community, we are opening our doors to honor and remember Dan Wade,” the team announced Tuesday morning on Instagram.
“We’re forever grateful to our brewing community for lifting us up and lending a helping hand by pouring beer for us as we found time to celebrate Dan’s life ourselves. Charlotte, we welcome you to stop by the South End Brewery and pay your respects to Dan.”
Wooden Robot in South End’s coffee bar will open at 9 a.m. today, and its brewery will be open from 4-10 p.m. Its kitchen will reopen at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The Chamber in NoDa will be open Thursday at 3 p.m.
The Department of Labor is still investigating the accident, but no further details have been released.
Services for Wade
There was a private service held for Wade on Monday, Feb. 26 at Temple Beth El, which was livestreamed for those not in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, Wade’s obituary asked for support via the family’s GoFundMe page, or to make a donation to Temple Beth El or another charity in his memory.
