The Fairwood 226, a rooftop restaurant and bar founded by upstate New Yorkers as a home for Buffalo Bills fans in Charlotte, is closing after a four-year run — and something new is moving in.

“It is with bittersweet anticipation that we announce the last day of business for The Fairwood 226 will be on Saturday, March 30th, 2024,” a post on its Instagram said. “The Fairwood has provided us and our guests with loads of laughter and memories that will never be forgotten. We would love to build on those memories and want to extend our greatest appreciation to our customers for four amazing years in business.”

The game day haven is holding a “Farewell Fairwood” party from noon-1 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 before the transition occurs.

“We are very excited to welcome a new ownership group at 226 Fairwood Ave. More details to follow!” the Instagram post said.

Fans of The Fairwood 226 are sad to see it go:

  • “Thanks for being my home away from home for the last few years. You all had a way of turning tears into laughter during tough times and I am forever grateful for that,” Noah said via Instagram.
  • Another regular, Jen Kovacs Burkett, said: “Thank you for letting me be inappropriate on the mic every week the last two years. I’ll miss you guys so much.”
  • “Thank you for providing me and my friends with the best times and the coolest staff. A big loss for Charlotte,” Instagram user rbutnotkelly responded.
