6 new food spots just dropped at The Alley at Latta Arcade. When to go check them out.
New food and drink spots are open or on the way soon at The Alley at Latta Arcade as renovation construction has been completed, bringing new choices to uptown Charlotte residents, workers and visitors.
As you stroll through the Alley, you’ll notice new globe lighting and descriptions of each retailer’s offerings, new awnings over the entryways and an exterior directory. Greenery decorates the interior, along with artwork commemorating the history of Latta Arcade.
The elevated eats destination has also expanded hours to include mornings and late nights. Now, you have extra time to look for new bites from these spots:
Biryani Bliss: Biryani Bliss — now open — features Indian food combo meals, featuring curries and appetizer along with rice or biryani and naan. It’s part of the Biryani Nation umbrella of restaurants, with other locations in Ballantyne, Concord and Charlotte’s Gateway Village.
BFF (Burgers, Fries & Franks): Burgers, Fries & Franks offers just that — casual street food such as hot dogs and burgers with your choice of toppings. The restaurant soft opened last fall, then closed for construction with plans to reopen in the coming weeks.
Two Scoops Creamery: Local ice cream shop Two Scoops Creamery is a Charlotte staple, with seven locations. At Latta Arcade, you can now order a sweet treat online and come in to pick it up. The location is offering 16 flavors, including staples such as Cookie Monster, Cookies by the Sea, Shipwrecked and Krazy Cake.
Knowledge Perk Coffee Company: Rock Hill-based Knowledge Perk Coffee is expanding its offerings in Charlotte with this uptown location, opening shortly. (You can also drink its local brews at Bank of America Stadium.)
Jean’s Cold Drinks: This beverage-focused spot will offer inventive cocktails and spirit-free selections from bartender Larry Suggs, who named the place after his grandmother. You’ll be able to choose from the bites and small plates offered there, or bring in food from neighboring businesses. It will open in late 2024.
Protagonist Beer: An all-day concept from Protagonist Beer will serve breakfast early and brink the beer on board after 10 a.m. Details are still in the works, but the plan calls for a late 2024 opening.
Previously announced restaurants also opening this year include the wildly popular spot The Dumpling Lady and Maneki, a Japanese robata wood-fired grill concept from James Beard Award nominated chef/owner Sam Hart of Counter-.

Now open at The Alley
The Alley’s current roster of restaurants and retailers includes:
- 800º Carolinas, offering wood-fired pizza
- Crisp, a spot for salads and wraps
- Felix Empanadas, bringing the familar flavors of handmade empanadas and fries as it offers at Optimist Hall
- Gather Flower Studio
- Ohana Poke, with signature creations and make-your-own poke bowls
- Tony’s Shoe Shine, which has had a 60-year run at Latta Arcade and is one of the few shoeshine spots left in Charlotte

Hours: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 7 a.m. to midnight Thursday; 7-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 6-10 p.m. on Sunday. Individual retailers’ hours may vary.
