An artisanal food market is going into downtown Fort Mill. Here’s where.
Fort Mill has a new food market coming near the top of Main Street.
The Speckled Pear plans to open this fall at 110 Clebourne St. That’s the former Good Life Organic Kitchen space, next to Hot Dog Depot (also coming this fall) and Sweet Treats. It’s also near where the town just razed the former Hardee’s building to make parking for downtown shops and restaurants.
Speckled Pear has been working through the town permitting process for several months and recently posted plans on its Speckled Pear Market Facebook page and Instagram.
Speckled Pear is a specialty grocery store with scratch-made prepared food and take-home dinner options. Look for a lineup that includes salads, sandwiches, breads, avocado toast, ramen and charcuterie boards.
”We’re having a lot of fun,” said Robyn Bader, who will open Speckled Pear with husband Michael. “We’re a higher quality prepared foods market. We want to be able to get delicious, healthier food that’s kind of homemade and quick to put on the table.”
The Baders, who moved to Fort Mill about 16 years ago, have four children. Michael is a chef with three decades of experience. Robyn brings experience in supply chain logistics. They left corporate jobs this spring and summer to take on Speckled Pear.
The market will have a gift center with flowers. It won’t be a wine store, but there will be some retail beer and wine.
”The pairings sometimes, they just make sense,” Robyn Bader said.
The best opening estimate is the end of October. Robyn Bader points to nearby activity in the Main Street area, where the town has dining options people would’ve had to travel to Charlotte for just a few years back.
”We want really good, delicious and easy food options,” she said. ”It’s really cool how the community is evolving. People are looking for a true community that they can be a part of.”
