Van Loi reopens, serving roasted pork, barbecue and Chinese meats for takeout in Charlotte

Popular Charlotte take-out spot Van Loi Chinese Barbecue has reopened after renovations at its restaurant on Central Avenue. Known for its Chinese classics, Van Loi has been serving the community for nearly three decades.

“Van Loi Chinese BBQ is now open! Come get yourself some roast pork and duck while it’s hot!” The restaurant wrote via FaceBook earlier this month.

The dishes at Van Loi go beyond mere comfort food; they’re more like traditional celebratory meals meant for important occasions. Dishes like its Heo quay (roasted pork) and vit quay (roasted duck) are staples at weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and holidays, as CharlotteFive previously reported.

Upon entering its recently updated space, you’ll be greeted by the scent of roasted meats. And behind a glass wall, you’ll find a display of its culinary offerings.

At Van Loi, you’ll find a variety of dishes, including:

  • Roast Pork (Heo Quay)

  • Barbecue Pork (Xa Xiu)

  • Barbecue Duck (Vit Nuong Chao)

  • Special Duck (Vet Ton Tho Tung)
