An authentic Charlotte Italian restaurant has permanently closed. Here’s what’s next.
Volo, an Italian restaurant in Charlotte’s Eastover neighborhood, has permanently closed, citing new ownership.
A Nov. 19 email from the restaurant to its customers simply said, “Sorry to say, we are permanently closed. Volo will dearly be missed.”
The email added: “We appreciate all our local residents for all of their support and love through the years. We hope to see you all soon!”
An owner in Volo told CharlotteFive via email that an authentic Greek restaurant will be opening in the space next. Yassou Greek will offer recipes that “come from family tradition handed down generation after generation,” co-owner Landa Daglas said.
Volo was known for its fresh, authentic cuisine and focus on Italian wines. Pasta dishes included the briny squid ink Linguine Al Nero and ravioli stuffed with fresh ricotta, lobster and crab.
The restaurant opened in 2019 amid a wave of other Italian eateries joining the Charlotte food and drink scene.
At the time, managing partner Marco Antenucci told CharlotteFive that Volo would stand out with its deep understanding of authentic Italian food and a commitment to giving guests a pleasant experience.
“You feel that difference right away. Caring for a guest from the moment they step in to the 10 minutes after they leave — when they’ll hopefully still be talking about us — is important,” he said at the time.
