A World Pizza Champion’s Americana-style pies are now available in uptown Charlotte

A World Pizza Champion’s signature pies are now available in uptown Charlotte, where King of Fire is open and ready to serve weekday lunch customers.

The new location at The Green is the first permanent brick-and-mortar space for King of Fire, a wood-fired pizza food truck in the area that has gained fans at public events and catered weddings. The fast-casual space across from Sandwich Club quietly opened Thursday, and by mid-afternoon, passersby were trickling in for a taste of the award-winning pizzas.

Not only has Silar Chapman won the Trofeo Caputo Cup in Italy in the Traditional American Division, those who are gluten-free can also take note: Chapman has been an award winner in gluten-free crusts, too.

There’s just one tiny change: At the uptown location, where Chapman has partnered with Evan Gentile of Fort Mill’s Voodoo Wing Co. restaurant, the Americana-style pizza is cooked in electric ovens.

“With technology, we can cook at the same temperatures and mimic what you can get on the wood-fired truck, but we can do more volume in the electric ovens,” Chapman said.

In short, that means you can get the same pizza you’ve had at the King of Fire food truck — just faster. So you can relax for a bit and catch up on ESPN or the news during your short lunchtime break uptown while you munch.

Salad choices include Caesar and House salads, along with the Apple Orchard, packed with mixed greens, seasonal apples, feta, dried cranberries and candied pecans.

For the pizza, highly recommended options you’ll want to try are:

  • Honey Pie 2.0, which adds bacon to its standard Honey Pie, topped with pepperoni, red pepper flakes and honey
  • Cal Italia, with Asiago, Gorgonzola, mozzarella, fig preserves, Prosciutto di Parma, Parmegiano Reggiano and a basalmic reduction

  • La Regina, with red sauce, soppressata piccante, arugula, prosciutto, Piave cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano and extra virgin olive oil

And don’t worry, the original King of Fire food trucks are still out on the road, ensuring more options for fans who can’t get enough.
