Retail and Development

Popular Charlotte gift shop Paper Skyscraper is expanding: Here’s where.

Paper Skyscraper, the iconic Charlotte retail store that has been selling eclectic gifts and other items for more than 35 years, is now expanding the brand to Lake Norman.

Its third location and first outside of the city will open in February on Jetton Street in Davidson.

The retail shop is known for its unique, often locally focused, items for sale. It’s possible to hop in and out for for a few minutes to find a perfect last-minute gift, but one would be remiss not to plan to persuse the greeting card section for hours before moving on to books, candles, kitchen tchotchkes and more.

In fact, CharlotteFive readers (who always know best) named Paper Skyscraper one of the best places to shop local in 2023.

Paper Skyscraper not only has a variety of books to choose from but also has a selection of party favors, gifts and local art.

“Our goal has always been to create a unique shopping experience — a place where customers can discover something new, find joy, and celebrate creativity,” Bill Godwin, owner and general manager of Paper Skyscraper, said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring this same energy and sense of community to Davidson and the Lake Norman area.”

The store will open in early February.
